landlord rights if transfered back into rental area
I moved away from Rhode Island for a job and am now asked by my company to take a job back in the area. I have several apartments in Rhode Island, all with one year leases. Do I have options as an owner moving back into the area or must I wait for one of the leases to end?

We had a similar issue in MD with one of our clients. I don't know the laws in RI, but in MD, the law is clear: a one year lease is a legal contract. It can't be broken by either party-without there being consequences. Our client wanted to move into her house (which we rented on a 1 yr lease). The lease was only half-finished. Her only option was to one: wait it out. Two, offer the tenant money to move out, surrender the keys, and sign a surrender of possesion and keys (this is necessary in MD)
Hope this helps...
