Upgraded floors. Can landlord consider them "damage" and withhold sec dep in KY?
I upgraded the floors of my apartment and want to know if the landlord can consider it "damages" and withhold the security deposit. I thought that in the state of KY, security deposit could not be withheld for upgrades.

I do not own rental property in Kentucky, myself, so the following is just my "landlord" opinion. In general, a tenant should not make any additions or changes to a landlord's property because the tenant does not own the property. if changes are desired, it is always best to either ask the landlord to make the changes you desire at your cost and/or get very specific written permission from the landlord before even thinking about actually making any physical additions and/or changes to the landlord's property. The bottom line is that the landlord owns the property and may not like, agree with or approve of any personal changes you made. It may be best for you to plan to restore the property back to its original condition before you return possession of the property to the landlord OR get the landlord's very detailed written approval of the changes you already made.
